New Member For Amici
Wednesday January 25 2006
Owing to the recent diagnosis of Autism for his daughter, Geoff Sewell will be leaving Amici after the upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand. Geoff has decided that he needs to devote more time to his family to ensure that Sienna has the stability and security that she needs in order to fulfil her potential. He has chosen to say farewell on his home turf in order to say thank you to those fans whose loyalty and enthusiasm has been key to Amici’s success from the very beginning.
David, Tsakane and Jo said “We will miss Geoff, having shared so many great times and experiences over the past 3 and a half years. We wish him all the best for the future, and are thinking of him and his family at this difficult time”.
After a lengthy search the band have chosen to replace Geoff with Brazilian Italian baritone, Bruno Santino. Bruno’s amazing voice and smoldering good looks will soon be wowing audiences at Amici performances across the globe. He will be appearing in a “symbolic handover” on the last night of the Australian tour in Margaret River, and on Amici’s subsequent UK tour in May.
Says David Habbin: We saw a lot of talented people, but when Bruno came in it was obvious that this was a voice with a beautiful warm quality and his easy-going character made us feel that he would fit in with the group’s dynamic straight away.
Geoff's Farewell Message
Just recently my wife Simone and I received the painful news that our two year old daughter Sienna has an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Children with this condition benefit from stability and routine in daily life in order to thrive. Much effort is required from their loved ones to ensure their future is bright and their potential realised. Therefore our family coping with ‘Daddy’s’ frequent absences and regular globetrotting, according to a fluctuating and dictated schedule, is not cool.
It is with sadness that I’ve made the difficult decision to leave Amici so I can spend more time at home. This February tour of my homeland, New Zealand, and Australia is my ‘farewell’.
To all my family, friends and our fans throughout the world I can’t thank you enough for all your love and support over the past amazing four years.
Thanks to SonyBMG worldwide for their commitment and hard work. Enjoying success at ‘home’ has been a dream come true.
To Jo, David and Tsakane – you are amazing people and it’s been an absolute blast sharing the highs and the lows with you. Keep living the dream!
Making a difference in people’s lives is where the juice is and I have felt so privileged during my Amici years. Now I ask that you please help Simone and I in our quest to raise the profile of Autism and find answers to help families throughout the world.
Yes - “Life is truly a daring adventure or nothing”. Now it’s time for a new adventure…
Geoff
