Thanks for bringing this group to my attention. Wow...I like their sound! I also agree that they sound much more polished than Il Divo. Blake sing as an ensemble...I find the members of Divo all sing as soloists (espcially one of them; he just doesn't seem to want to blend in).
I have always felt that Amici Forever was head and shoulders above Il Divo in all respects and even Blake now for that matter. It seems that in order for the general public to help launch a group's career, they must be backed by either Simon Cowell or David Foster. Careers seem to soar with their backing regardless of their abilities. Now this isn't true of Blake, but let's see how far they go.
Now please don't get me wrong. The performers are ALL talented musicians BUT I don't think Amici ever got a fair shake at the market. I tried to get a Canadian Magazine to do an article on them. Sent a copy of the first CD, pestered them over and over again. My calls, emails and letters were never acknowledged which was a pity because "Whisper of Angels" is an arrangement by Canadian Amy Sky, which I pointed out to them. That could have even been their lead-in for the interview. I think if they had been discovered by Cowell or Foster, Amici would have had an even more successful career.
These are just my thoughts and please don't be offended by any of this. As I said, they're all tremendous musicians but I feel Amici has been short-changed by a public that will only accept a group if it's been endorsed by a celebrity. Amici Forever could easily have toured with Barbara Streisand instead of Divo. I anxiously await Amici's next CD.
