Popera Star Sewell 'Steps Beyond' for Prestigious Award Ceremony

Home-grown 'popera' sensation Geoff Sewell is in the country this week to inspire his fellow kiwis to 'step beyond' and realise their dreams on the international stage.

London based Sewell has been asked to sing at the Deloitte/Management magazine Top 200 Awards honouring the nation's most successful companies and executives, as chosen from a list of the top 200 companies which is compiled each year by Management magazine.

The high profile ceremony, which will also be attended by the prime minister, has been held every year since 1990 and attracts around 1000 top executives,  some of whom are vying for the distinction of winning such a highly sought after award. Categories at this year's event include "Executive of the Year", "Company of the Year" and "Young Executive of the Year", with each winner having excelled as "Champions of an enterprising spirit" - something multi-platinum selling artist Sewell knows all about, running his global entertainment company Incognito Artists with just such a business ethos.

Sewell's mixture of musical talent and business acumen certainly appealed to the organisers.  The classical crossover star, currently recording his debut solo album, was chosen specifically for the evening's entertainment, flown home from the UK especially for the event.

The founder and former member of Amici Forever  has been asked to not only provide a typically powerful and passionate performance, but also give a speech too.  Sewell's been been invited to explain how he fulfilled the theme for the Awards himself, by "stepping beyond" to realise his dream of becoming a hugely successful international singer and businessman, as well as showcasing why such an attitude and approach needs to be adopted universally into enterprise and life.

The Deloitte/Management magazine Top 200 Awards take place on November 29th at the SkyCity Convention Centre, Auckland, with the results and judges comments published in the December issue of Management magazine.

Re: Christmas Card Program on Geoff's Forum

On Geoff's forum this holiday season we are running a "Christmas Card Program", where participating members can sign up to send and, of course receive, cards from other members taking part in the scheme.

I've always had fun taking part in such programs in the past, as they are a great and reasonably inexpensive way of spreading some festive cheer wide and far, as it's always lovely to receive cards from all corners of the globe!

You're very welcome to join the forum and take part of course, with the card program sign up deadline being this weekend, early next week at the latest, to allow time for overseas post. You can find out more information about the program, ask any questions and post your wish to join the list by visiting the thread on Geoff's forum HERE

Hope some of you will join us!

    Jo x

    Re: Geoff at Classical Sparks

Geoff Sewell Proudly Performing at Classical Sparks

Kiwi tenor Geoff Sewell is honoured to be returning "home" next week to take part in a spectacular celebration of New Zealand heritage in Christchurch.

The former Amici Forever singer will be joined by Christchurch born Bic Runga, Wellington's flamboyant classical rock violinist Elena and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra for the free open air Classical Sparks concert, to be held on the 5th February at 8pm, heralding in Waitangi Day.

Taking place in the beautiful Hagley Park, Christchurch, this must-see family event for over 100,000 people will be launched with an enthralling performance by local Kapa Haka group Te Ahikaaroa, leading into the talented array of guest artists and building up to a stunning fireworks finale accompanying Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries".

London based Geoff, whose highly anticipated solo album is due for release soon, is certainly looking forward to the big night,  "It's a privilege to perform at Christchurch's event of the year.   What a joy to sing with orchestra under the stars to a 'home' crowd.  I can't wait'".

Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed for good weather of course, but with a scintillating line up of performers, a proud heritage to celebrate and fireworks too, it's doubtful that anything could stop this night going with a bang!

"I'm just stoked to have been involved in such an amazing event", said the multi platinum selling singer afterwards. "I've grown up watching many of these guys, so it was a huge honour to sing for some of New Zealand's legends. I'm truly humbled by the feedback we've received from people who attended and watched on TV."
