THEATRES/CONCERT HALLS - Amici have performed at.

Kendal and us Mods have discussed this as a topic for Our Amici Forum.

We can start with venues that many of us have visited for Amici performances, and we could move on later to Venues that we think would be good for our Amici.

    I will start with:

    THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL

Many of us in the UK will have visited this famous Hall for many occasions, and, in particular, the two Classic Response Concerts, 2005 and 2006 in which our beautiful Amici appeared.

I look forward to hearing all your views and comments on the RAH.

All you folks from the UK are so, SO lucky.  My first comment - BeauTIFUL...

I was looking at the RAH website and APPARENTLY they put ice in there at once point for a skating exhibition - anyone know more about this?

I am sure that this was done - the RAH is actually very versatile, most of the ground floor (1st floor in US) is 'mobile' and can be changed, for instance, The Rememberance Day Concert, which is held annually on the Saturday prior to the Rememberance Day Parade in Whitehall sees the main seating area towards the stage completely removed.   This is then used for members of the UK Armed Services to form for the Drum Head Service.  In 2004 our very own Amici were requested to perform at this Ceremony in front of Queen Elizabeth II.

I think I have some pictures of the inside of the theater I first saw them in.  I will have to see if I can post them - it was a amazing place.

Re: THEATRES/CONCERT HALLS - Amici have performed at.

Sadly I didn't get to see any shows at the Royal Albert Hall on my trips to the U.K.

    It looks stunning.

I don't think we have any venues in Australia  that have been designed along those lines- with tiers that go around the hall.

The first concert for the East Coast Ammis in Australia was at our iconic Sydney  Opera House.

We sat in the first two rows- and were SO excited!!!

I have to say- the first row was like sitting at the foot of the Berlin Wall- while Amici performed on the top of it!!!

But it was Our First Concert- how could we not want the  seats down the front !!!

The Concert hall- where Amici performed- is under the large sails in the middle. The Opera Theatre is under the three smaller sails to the left- while the drama theatre is under the sails on the right.

If you look at the people seated in the front row- you'll see what I mean about the Berlin Wall!  But we wouldn't have moved for quids!!

This link shows some of the architectural detail of the building-

Thought I'd go through the archives and list Amici's performances  so we could have a sense of where they've performed.  There may be some I've missed- and there wasn't always a venue name.

I've organised it by country alphabetically- rather than by date. And tried to put all the charity and additional gigs I could find.

They'be been VERY busy boys and girls!!

Re: THEATRES/CONCERT HALLS - Amici have performed at.

There's certainly a huge selection. I know when I was looking for links at the time of the concerts  - a lot don't have photos- so the ones you have from being there would be great Pat.

I'd forgotten that Amici had been to so many places!

Thanks for the Regent theatre Melbourne  shots Bellaria.  There's such a story related to that beautifil theatre.

It was closed and was going to be pulled down- until someone mounted a campaign to save it- and the unions came on board and black banned any works.

Eventually it was restored- and I think now- people couldn't imagine how they could have contemplated destroying it.

Here is the Community Theater in Williamsport, PA.

Bev, maybe you can resize them - I am awful at this stuff.  It was a very lovely old theater - had just been renovated a year or so before the concert,

I think the sizes are fine Julie. It  is a beautiful theatre. So elegant and opulent.  Like the Regent- how wonderful someone had the passion, desire and wherewithal  to restore it to its original beauty. So tragic if they ever got pulled down!

Here's more photos of the Regent- in Melbourne.

This link has some old black and whites- some of the abandoned building- and after restoration.

And I was wondering what part of the world you're from Bellaria?  Have you been to any of these venues?

Re: THEATRES/CONCERT HALLS - Amici have performed at.

I wonder if Amici ever had any moments in time to take in the beauty of some of these venues?

Given the tight schedules they have to keep with sound checks- concerts - then off to the next show- they may not have had the time..

I've started down the list of venues- .I think there's going to be such a mix of gracious older style architecture and offsetting those- the modern concert halls.

These pictures are of Aberdeen Music Hall - it looks very gracious.

All of these pictures are amazing! I can't wait for more.

How great would it be if it was your job to perform in these places? Man....
